Pastor Fritz has still not been abe to get to Baraderes, but he did receive some photos of the church/school there. These photos have been added to the Hurricane Matthew album. The damage there was more extensive than first thought. In addition to the roof being torn off, it appears that three of the four main walls have fallen. Also, the small room on the side of the building is completely destroyed. It is hard to imagine that this room is where our medical teams have been housed the past two visits and now it is no more.

First, thank you to everyone who has sent words of encouragement and prayers for Pastor Fritz and the people of Haiti. We appreciate your continued prayer during this chaotic time of assessing damage, daily living and rebuilding.
Second, as of Saturday Fritz was unable to find anyone willing and able to drive him to Baraderes. He has been in touch with Pastor Jude and it is his understanding that the roof of the church and the side rooms are gone. However, there have been no reports of deaths on the mountain.
Third, we have added more photos to the Hurricane Matthew album here. In these photos you can see the damage done to so many of the houses in Montagne Carree. You can also see that the work to clean up the church is well underway.

Good news in the midst of all the destruction: no deaths have been reported on the mountain and the water well is still working properly. Fritz said this is the only clean water source in the area and is a blessing to have it available.

Pastor Fritz Charles was able to get to the mountain today around 3 p.m. He reported the following damage:
- The roofs on the new church and the bakery are gone.
- The old church is completely gone.
- The pastor's house is completely gone,
- His father's house lost the roof.
- Almost everybody has lost their homes.
There are currently nine families taking shelter in the basement of the new church (the school rooms). Fritz found some tin and put it on the roof of the bakery so that a couple of families could stay there. He is going to try and get to Baraderes tomorrow to assess the damage there.
Please continue to pray for the safety of the community as there is apparently another storm heading their way. In addition, getting food will be difficult with roads washed out.

Many people have asked what we know about Haiti, particularly the communities of Montagne Carree and Baraderes, in light of Hurricane Matthew. Pastor Fritz Charles has been in Haiti since Sept. 1 and is currently in Port-Au-Prince. GOCM Vice President Roosevelt Cherubin was finally able to get in touch with him today and he says that the news in not good.
Fritz has tried to get to the mountain but had to turn back because of the weather conditions. He will try again tomorrow. He has heard that the high winds caused the old church to be leveled and that several people's homes are destroyed, including blowing away the roofs on the homes of Pastor Edoiel Hercules and Fritz's father. The plan had been for people to take shelter in the new school/church building. However, Fritz is unable to get Pastor Hercules on the phone, so he is not sure how many people were able to shelter there. Roosevelt did hear from Fritz's sister that his father is OK
Please continue to pray for the island of Haiti and these communities specifically. Also, pray that Pastor Fritz will be able to safely reach the mountain so that he can assess the situation.
