With two schools of over 300 students and a staff of 12 we want to see each child receive one hot meal per day. Most of our students do not eat breakfast at all, and at night they may eat a very small supper. Our first and most important goal is to see each child eat a good nutritious lunch, because we believe that if they are not focused on an empty stomach they can focus better on their studies. This costs at least $1,000 per month. We are hoping that we can continue to offer our students this simple act of love and care!
We would like to thank everyone that helped in any way for the successful 2021-2022 school year. The 2022-2023 school year begins on September 8, 2022, we still need your support financially and in prayer to continue ministering to our students.
The feeding program has not started just yet, because of lack of funds, but we are trusting God to provide for us.
Medical
Since 2015, our medica left the mountain of Haiti, at this current time the people are in need of normal medical attention.
In 2009, we brought in the first EVER medical mission to Montagne Carree, seeing 1,500 people in two days with three nurses and 10 helpers. In 2011 we brought in the first American doctor along with four nurses, 12 helpers and a dentist, again seeing over 1,000 people. We were able to give deworming medicine to over 1,500 people. This alone, done for the first time ever, will help them immensely to live a healthier life. The medical team returned in fall 2013 and 2015 and served both Montagne Carree and Baradares.
We are in the process of getting a team together to return again 2022 or 2023.
Our goal is to one day have a small medical clinic on the mountain that we can open three days per week for the residents.
Clean Water
Up to today, this is the only source of water the people of this mountian of Haiti has to use. They carry water buckets from the well and carry it back to where there staying to use for cooking, drinking, taking showers.
In January 2014, GOCM partnered with Water for Life Haiti to dig a well on ministry property for the community to use and an additional well on the school property for the ministry to use in the future..
While others doubted that water would be found in the type of rock found near the Montagne Carree school, Pastor Fritz Charles never wavered in his insistence that there would be water there. The team from Water For Life Haiti were amazed when they hit water much sooner and with much greater force than they anticipated, but not Pastor Fritz! The well was dug in God's perfect timing as the spring ushered in a long dry season in the region.
As of Spring 2022, the ministry well is capped and ready for future plans to pump the water to the top of the property for irrigation and to provide running water to the school, among other things.
Future Plans
We are in the process of building gardens with the help of the people who live here and volunteers, so that people have fresh food to eat and feel they are helping other people.
We are in the building stages for a guest house in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. This guest house will be a two story building that will have 14 bedrooms, 14 full baths, 3 half bath rooms, 3 car garage, dining room, and a conference room/prayer room it can hold up to 50 people.
Please visit our website for more updates, we will be updating the site at least once a month.
We have purchased two plots of land (a third is in the planning stage) and have already planted crops on one of them. Our goal is to teach the locals how to best plant, irrigate and harvest. In the future, we are convinced that they will grow enough food that we won’t have to pay the high prices charged in the city to bring in food for the school lunches.
